Q Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I wonder what it would be like if the Vampire Slayer was actually a 263-year-old vampire. And what if vampires could just walk in the daytime without glitter, and holy objects couldn't kill vampires? And why wouldn't a vampire use modern weapons to fight evil? And if they were fighting evil, why wouldn't they work with an anti-terrorist unit? These questions led to my first novel.

Q How do you get inspired to write?

I get some of my inspiration from the news and what I see on the street. If I think it's an interesting story, I'll do my research and start writing about it.

Q What are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on my second novel, The Black Widow. This is a sequel to my first novel and begins on April 15, 2013 in Boston during the horrific terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon. I watched the news and it made me puke. I don't understand why maniacs/terrorists do such horrible things to innocent bystanders.

Q What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

I would say never give up. Start writing what comes to you, read it back. Delete and edit your story. Have others read it and listen to their advice. Be open to criticism.

Q What’s the best thing about being a writer?

You can create your own world, visualize your thoughts in words, and share them with others.

Q How do you deal with writer’s block?

I just stop trying to write. I pick up my guitar and play for a while, or I go for a walk. When I have a fresh mind, I read what I've written so far and then the words come to me to write a new chapter or to finish the story.
